Overview
The Bambino is a hairless dwarf breed combining the Sphynx and Munchkin, with a small, short-legged body and wrinkled skin. Playful, affectionate and lively despite its tiny size, it is a rare and eye-catching cat.
History & Origin
Created in the United States in the early 2000s by crossing Sphynx with Munchkin cats, the Bambino (Italian for “baby”) pairs hairlessness with naturally short legs.
Appearance & Coat
A small cat with very short legs, a muscular torso and near-bare wrinkled skin (sometimes peach fuzz). The proportions are comically endearing — a “baby” sphynx.
Temperament
Bambinos are cheerful, curious and affectionate, retaining the Sphynx's love of people. They are playful and adapt to indoor life.
Care & Grooming
Needs weekly bathing for the skin and warmth like other hairless breeds. Short legs mean easy access to low spaces; supervise for joint comfort.
Health & Lifespan
Lifespan is 12–14 years. Because it combines two mutations, choose ethical breeders who screen for skeletal and cardiac health.
Recognition
Recognised by TICA as an experimental breed.
