Black-and-White Domestic
A common black-and-white piebald domestic cat, active, playful and highly intelligent; lively and affectionate, with a mischievous streak.
Overview
The Black-and-White Domestic (the classic “cow cat” or “tuxedo” cat) is a common piebald cat with bold black-and-white patches. Active, playful and highly intelligent, it is lively, sometimes mischievous, yet very affectionate.
History & Origin
A ubiquitous colour pattern of the Chinese and worldwide domestic cat, the black-and-white has been a familiar companion and farm cat for centuries.
Appearance & Coat
A medium-sized, athletic cat with a short coat in variable black-and-white markings — from a “tuxedo” (white chest/belly) to roughly half-and-half piebald. Eye colour varies (green, yellow, copper).
Temperament
These cats are clever, bold and entertaining, often with a playful “scheming” personality (fondly called the “home-wrecker cat” online in China). They are loving and bond well with people.
Care & Grooming
Straightforward short-coat care. They are energetic and need play and stimulation; they adapt to indoor or safe outdoor life.
Health & Lifespan
Lifespan is 15–20 years. Hardy and healthy; routine care suffices.
Recognition
A colour pattern of the domestic cat (no separate registry recognition).
