Overview
The Minskin is a rare dwarf breed crossing the Sphynx and Munchkin, with short legs, sparse or partial hair and a muscular build. Friendly, playful and social, it is an unusual but charming companion.
History & Origin
Created in Boston in the late 1990s by crossing Munchkin, Sphynx, Devon Rex and Burmese, the Minskin pairs dwarfism with a near-bare, “pointed fur” look (fur on points/extremities).
Appearance & Coat
A small cat with very short legs and a mostly hairless body with soft fur concentrated on the head, ears, legs and tail (“masked” pattern). Wrinkled skin and large eyes give a sweet expression.
Temperament
Minskins are affectionate, bold and playful, enjoying people and gentle handling. They are curious and adapt well indoors.
Care & Grooming
Minimal coat care, but keep warm and bathe lightly for skin oils. Protect short legs with ramps and healthy weight.
Health & Lifespan
Lifespan is 12–14 years. Being a multi-mutation breed, choose ethical breeders screening cardiac and skeletal health.
Recognition
Recognised by TICA (experimental).
